Jordan Fisher Smith

Jordan, a park ranger, pulled out an embedded tick and brought it to his doctor because he was worried about contracting Lyme disease. The doctor told him not to worry about it, because "it's a rare disease in California." Eight months later, Jordan's overwhelming cognitive issues and fatigue caused him to go on disability. After a renowned Lyme-literate physician began treating him with long-term antibiotics, Jordan started getting his old life back, and he went on to write the acclaimed naturalist book, "Nature Noir." As we follow his battles with the physical and economic tolls of the disease, Jordan provides UNDER OUR SKIN with alarming observations on links between the Lyme disease epidemic and environmental degradation. Jordan is currently on contract with Random House writing a new book about the future of American wilderness.
